去年新人王Mike Trout貢獻2安1保送1盜壘、得2分，Jason Vargas投7又1/3局，被敲5安、失2分，投打雙雄發威，幫助天使隊以5比2擊敗皇家隊。天使隊拿下6連勝，一掃開季不振陰霾。
這是Trout本季第21次單場2安以上，5月份打擊率高達0.366。3局上他率先上場，敲出內野安打，靠著隊友推進、加上對方奉送暴投，回到本壘攻下天使隊第1分。7局上又是他第一個上來打，獲得保送後盜上二壘，再靠Mark Trumbo安打回家，這個半局天使隊一口氣攻下3分，取得領先。
Vargas同樣也有個「光輝5月」，這個月5場先發，拿了4勝，防禦率從上個月底的6.74，降到3.43。自2009年起算，他在5月份的戰績是12勝4敗。
「其實我不覺得跟之前有啥不同，只是情況、結果不一樣，」Vargas說。他自認投得很有效率、用球數精簡，這一點，獲得教頭Mike Scioscia背書。
「Vargas善於利用本壘板兩側、還有速差，靠守備製造出局數。」Scioscia說。 (接下一頁)
