微軟（Microsoft）預計將於台灣時間 10/17 下午 7 點（紐西蘭時間 10/18 日凌晨 12 點）起開放 Windows 8 系統用戶下載升級 Windows 8.1，使用者只要連上網路前往 Windows 市集即可取得 Windows 8.1 更新檔。最新版本的 Windows 8.1 作業系統將提供個人化功能、Bing 智慧搜尋和 20 多個微軟 Apps 新增或更新功能。若非 Windows 8 用戶也可從 Windows.com 取得更新檔或是透過零售店購買 DVD 盒裝版。Windows 8.1 作業系統台灣售價 4,199 元，專業版則是 6,999 元；購買較新的 Windows 8.1 裝置用戶，可以 2,999 元加購 Windows 8.1 專業版，而 Windows 8.1 專業版用戶加購 Windows Media Center 只要 309 元。
