台塑集團已同意投資11.5億美元（新台幣344.17億元），向澳洲Fortescue金屬集團和中國寶山鋼鐵，收購澳洲西部Iron Ore Bridge計畫約三成股權，並敲定其他附帶交易。

路透報導，作為交易的一環，台塑將預先支付5億美元給Fortescue的子公司皮柏勒基礎建設公司（TPI），取得皮柏勒在印度洋的鐵路港口設施使用權。

台塑將支付1.23億美元，收購Iron Ore Bridge計畫的31%股權，並將提供5.27億美元的資本支出於該計畫。Iron Ore Bridge計畫位於皮柏勒鐵礦砂帶，包含North Star和Glacier Valley這兩個礦床，及預定稍後探勘的兩個礦床。目前Fortescue擁有Iron Ore Bridge計畫的88%股權，寶鋼擁有12%股權。～經濟日報2013年8 月17日頭版頭條
