暗物質存在？中研院首推翻

兩年前，美國CoGeNT實驗研究團隊發表暗物質分布在一百億電子伏特質量範圍，成為國際暗物質研究主流。中央研究院物理研究所副所長王子敬在核二廠建置「國聖微中子實驗室」，發現在CoGeNT提出的範圍內並沒有找到暗物質，推翻美國團隊推論暗物質存在的證據。

CoGeNT研究團隊從二○○九年開始實驗觀測，一年多後，在二○一一年發表找到暗物質存在的證據，引起國際矚目，並成為各國科學家繼續尋找暗物質的研究主流。CoGeNT研究團隊當時並推論，暗物質應該存在一百億電子伏特的「低質量」範圍內。

王子敬率領「台灣微中子實驗」國際研究團隊，利用距離核二廠反應爐心廿八公尺的「國聖微中子實驗室」，研發靈敏度更高的精密探測器和數據分法，研究分析CoGeNT的實驗數據，結果發現CoGeNT的判讀誤差率高達二○到四○％。扣除誤判率後，在一百億電子伏特的「低質量」範圍，根本找不到物質與反物質交互作用的事例，顯示CoGeNT宣稱的證據不存在。

這項新數據日前在國際知名學術期刊《物理評論通訊》發表後，引起國際重視。CoGeNT也在稍後修正他們的實驗數據，並修正暗物質特性範圍。

美國另一個研究團隊ＣＤＭＳ－Ⅱ也跟進發表暗物質應存在七十億到二百億電子伏特之間，中研院成為全球第一組推翻CoGeNT實驗數據的研究團隊。
