臺灣觀光學院點名被砍 花縣議會抱不平

花蓮縣議會昨天在縣議員黃振富的號召下，由副議長賴進坤率隊前往臺灣觀光學院訪問。近來教育部因應少子化要「砍大學」，而臺灣觀光學院屢次遭點名，對此，花蓮縣議會痛批，沒有傾聽民間聲音，也讓全校師生活在恐懼與不確定感中。

「動不動就點名臺觀，我們要怎麼招生？」校長張瑞雄認為，花蓮以觀光立縣，臺灣觀光學院有其「適地性」，加上學校有4成學生來自東部，學生畢業後就可以直接投入花蓮的觀光市場，對於防止人口外流也有助益。

「要成立一所大學很不容易，但要廢掉只需要一下子」，黃振富說，用學生人數來考評一個學校的存廢，教育部只追求數量的思維，顯得貽笑大方。壽豐鄉長張懷文也力挺說，臺觀與地方產業互動良好，學生品質也很好。

臺灣觀光學院現有2300多位學生，教育部強調未滿3千人的學校都要列入觀察名單，張瑞雄說，學校滿招的情況學生數約有4千多人，學生人數減少，是因為少子化，而非運作、教育品質不良，大一進來的新生到大四，都還有9成仍在學，建議應以「留生率」取代學生數。
