得獎推理小說　作者為無期徒刑殺人犯

【張翠蘭／綜合外電報導】美國44歲作家杭特（Alaric Hunt）的懸疑小說處女作《穿骨奇案》（Cuts Through Bone，暫譯），充滿推理與謎團，故事寫實，贏得「最佳新銳推理小說」獎，獲約30萬元台幣獎金及付梓出版。但如今發現作者竟是一名無期徒刑殺人犯，消息曝光後各界譁然。

美國《紐約時報》近日披露，杭特19歲時與哥哥結夥搶劫珠寶店，哥哥縱火欲分散警力注意力，卻導致住附近的23歲女大學生奧斯汀被嗆死。杭特兄弟均被判無期徒刑。智商高達137的杭特入獄後被派至圖書室，接觸大文豪海明威作品及科幻小說，激發創作興趣。3年前他得知有高獎金的小說比賽，花9個月完成320頁的作品，敘述退役美軍被誤控殺害女友，中年偵探與少女瑞秋聯手查出真相。

縱火案死者的母親日前聞訊，批：「我女兒因他而死，他竟拿此事來寫書。」出版社強調小說與杭特罪行無關。杭特再過5年即可聲請假釋。
