洋基隊的季後賽希望，從黃燈轉為紅燈！王牌投手CC Sabathia腿筋第二級拉傷，提前關機，表定最後一次先發，改由Phil Hughes接替。

這麼做，雖然使得洋基隊逆轉晉級希望更低，但總經理Brian Cashman的眼光，放得很遠。「沒道理叫Sabathia帶著傷，去投本季最後一次先發，」Cashman說，「我們希望、也相信，明年對他、以及對洋基隊來說，都會是個更好的球季。」

Sabathia是在美國時間上禮拜五、對巨人隊三連戰第一場第二局受傷，但他撐到第八局才退場，賽後還熱血地宣稱，會準備好迎接本季最後先發，為洋基隊爭取晉級機會。但禮拜天核磁共振檢查結果出爐，這個傷得花六個禮拜才會好，只好換人先發。

「我們還在為晉級季後賽奮戰，沒有人會消極以對，」總經理Cashman說，「但現在我們得排這個禮拜的先發輪值，別無選擇換人。」

33歲的Sabathia，本季成績下滑，原因在於快速球「失速」，單季被敲出27發紅不讓，寫下生涯新紀錄，防禦率4.78也是生涯最差，14勝則是自2006年以來最低。不過，Cashman對這張王牌的未來，充滿信心。 (接下一頁)
